Case Study: Capacity

Helping people stay connected. LD Redmer quickly pivots and scales operations to meet the increased demand for at-home conferencing and recording equipment.

With the pandemic negatively impacting nearly every aspect of the global supply chain, the manufacturing industry had to adapt quickly to survive—LD Redmer was no different.

While there was a significant decrease in orders from our mainstay industries, LD Redmer saw other industries experience unprecedented growth. One of the commercial industries experiencing this growth was the at-home audio conferencing and recording industry. With so many employees now working from home during quarantines, clear communication was now a necessity.

Seeing an opportunity to help a customer manage this growth, LD Redmer utilized their open capacity and added machines to meet the demand quickly.

Since LD Redmer has decades of experience producing high-quality audio components and is built to scale quickly, we were ready to meet the challenge. Parts previously produced in volumes of 10,000 pcs per year were now needed upwards of 200,000 pcs per year.

In addition, LD Redmer helped manage suppliers, making sure raw materials were purchased, and outside-process suppliers were adequately prepared to increase their output.

The rate increase was handled seamlessly through Redmer’s production facility and in a matter of weeks, the customer received all the needed parts—with safety stock to spare.
